4 individuals arrested for illegal logging

    CAMP MARCELO A. ADDURU, TUGUEGARAO CITY- Police Regional Office 2 scored anew in the strict implementation of PD 705 in Aglipay Quirino yesterday morning.

    Arrested suspects were identified as Moreno Baloc, 37 years old, married, farmer, a resident of Brgy. Pinaripad Norte, Aglipay, Quirino, Sheldan Antolin, 23 years old, single, Amer Arucan, 23 years old, married and AriesArucan, 31 years old, married all residents of Brgy. Pinaripad Sur, Aglipay, Quirino.

    PRO2 Regional Director, PCSUPT JOSE MARIO M ESPINO said that at about 1:00 AM of March 1, 2018 in Brgy. Palacian, Aglipay, Quirino joint personnel of Aglipay Police Station and Quirino Provincial Maneuver Force Company (QPMFC) led by PCI ERNESTO DUQUE apprehended the suspects. Prior to their arrest, Aglipay Police Station received a report from a confidential informant through the operatives of Quirino Provincial Mobile Force Company PFMC that a suspicious white van was sighted traveling along the National Highway in Brgy. Victoria, Aglipay, Quirino.   Joint personnel of Aglipay PS and QPFMC, led by PCI ERNESTO B DUQUE proceeded to Brgy.  Palacian, Aglipay, Quirino and flagged down the said vehicle. The operation resulted to the arrest of the suspects and the confiscation of said vehicle loaded with illegally sawn and cut lumbers with an estimated aggregate volume of six hundred (600) board feet.

   The arrested suspects were brought to the Aglipay Police Station and will face charges for violation of PD No. 705 otherwise known as the Forestry Code of the Philippines.

   “Your Valley Cops is continuously supporting the government’s forest protection drive for our next generation through the strict implementation of our forestry law in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources,” RD ESPINO said.
