     More than Php 60,000 worth of illegally sawn lumbers intercepted in a river bank in Cagayan

  CAMP MARCELO A ADDURU, TUGUEGARAO CITY- Police Regional Office 2 scored anew in its intensified campaign against illegal logging in the municipality of Pamplona, Cagayan on September 6, 2019.

 Said illegally sawn lumbers (Tanguile) loaded in a motorized boat were intercepted by Pamplona Police Station while conducting patrolling in Brgy Tabba, Pamplona, Cagayan.

  PRO2 RD PBGEN JOSE MARIO M ESPINO in his report to Chief, PNP PGEN OSCAR DAVID ALBAYALDE stated that at about 12:30 AM, joint personnel of Pamplona Police Station, Kabalikat Rescue team and DENR caught in the act a certain Silvester Aquitana, 45 years old, married and a resident of Brgy Cabbaggan, Pamplona, Cagayan while transporting illegally sawn lumbers in assorted sizes with an aggregate volume of 2,491 board feet and market value of Php 62,265.00 loaded in a motorized banca.

  The confiscated sawn lumbers are temporarily under the custody of the barangay officials of Brgy Tabba in the said municipality prior to the proper disposition to the Department and Environment and Natural Resources.

  A case for violation of PD 705 is being prepared for filing against the suspect.

  RD ESPINO commended the operating team for another successful operation in the implementation of forestry law in the locality.
