Nueva Vizcaya PPO holds 1st Provincial Tokhang Responders Drug Summit
CAMP MARCELO A ADDURU, TUGUEGARAO CITY- Nueva Vizcaya Police Provincial Office conducted a 1-day Provincial Tokhang Responders Drug Summit participated by 2,200 participants held in Convention Center, Provincial Capitol, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya yesterday, August 5, 2019.
Hon. Carlos M Padilla, Governor, Province of Nueva Vizcaya was the guest of honor and speaker during the said activity. In his message, Gov. Padilla stated that the drug problem is not merely a peace and order problem but also it becomes health, mental, economic and social problem which needs to be solved immediately. “We shall be undertaking holistic planning and responsive actions to help transform our tokhang responders into a more productive and responsible members of the community” he added.
Meanwhile, PRO2 Regional Director PBGEN JOSE MARIO M ESPINO emphasized the importance of drug summit in bringing together all the tokhang responders here in Nueva Vizcaya purposely to account them and to educate them on the ill effects of illegal drugs. “Gusto naming ipakita sa inyong lahat katuwang ang mga ibang ahensya at mga Local Government Executives na patuloy po ang ating programa para sa inyong mga tokhang responders upang tuluyan na ninyong iwasan ang illegal na droga” he added.
PCOL MERWIN A CUARTEROS, Chief, Regional Community Affairs and Development Division also lectured on the accomplishments on the Community Based Rehabilitation and Wellness Program from July 2016 to July 2019.
During the Drug Summit, lecturers from TESDA and DOLE discussed Skills training and livelihood program for the tokhang responders, lecturer form DOH on the ill effects of Illegal drugs, lecturer from PDEA discussed on the provisions of RA 9165, while Lecturer form DSWD discussed the assistance program being offered by the said agency.
The said activity was participated by 2,000 out of 3,394 total Tokhang Responders, 200-Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils of the different municipalities in the province of Nueva Vizcaya. Also present are representatives from PDEA, DILG, DSWD, TESDA, DOH, PESO, LGUs, Religious Sectors, Private Companies and other Stakeholders.
The said activity is the brainchild and initiative of the Regional Director of Police Regional Office 2 PBGEN JOSE MARIO M ESPINO to help transform all the tokhang responders into more responsible members of the community.
