PRO2 intensifies campaign against illegal logging

 CAMP MARCELO A ADDURU, TUGUEGARAO CITY–.Police Regional Office 2 scored anew in its intensified campaign against illegal logging in two (2) separate police operations  in  Quirino and  Isabela provinces yesterday, June 6, 2019.

 PRO2 RD PBGEN JOSE MARIO M ESPINO in his report to Camp Crame said that at about 8:30 AM of same date, Wendell Domingo y Maninang, 36 years old, married and a resident of Purok-7 Rizal, Diffun, Quirino was arrested for Violation of PD 705 in Brgy. Gundaway, Cabarroguis, Quirino. Investigation disclosed that on the stated date and time, personnel of Cabarroguis PNP conducted anti- illegal logging operations that resulted in the apprehension of the said suspect. Domingo was arrested after he failed to present necessary documents of the sawn lumber with an estimated volume of more less 400 board feet loaded in a white MV Hyundai Grace Van bearing plate number BVU 206. Suspect together with the vehicle used and the sawn lumber were brought to Cabarroguis PS for proper disposition.

 Meanwhile, at about 10:15 PM of same date at Border Checkpoint, Brgy. Nemmatan, San Agustin, Isabela, personnel of San Agustin PS conducted anti-illegal logging operation and accosted a Green bus type with plate # BVG 431driven by Mr. Elvis Pascual, 55 years old, accompanied by his son Elvis Pascual Jr., 22 years old, both from San Agustin, Isabela while transporting 167 pcs of G-melina lumber and flitches with aggregate volume of 1,716 bdft./4.05 cu.m. (Documented) towards San Mateo, Cabatuan, and Ramon. Said vehicle and lumber together with the persons involved were brought at San Agustin PS for further investigation and verification.

 During the verification, the police found out that the registration of said vehicle is expired already under the name of Edito Castillo of San Agustin, Isabela and no other pertinent documents of ownership presented.

 RD ESPINO commended the operating personnel for a job well done.
