PRO2 holds first-ever "News Team Seminar"

   CAMP MARCELO A ADDURU, TUGUEGARAO CITY - Police Regional Office 2 in partnership with Cagayan Public Information Office successfully conducted a 2-day "PRO2 News Team Seminar" with the theme “PRO2 Goes Online: Reaching out to the community through effective News and Public Affairs Program” at the Regional Headquarters on June 10-11, 2021.

   The seminar which was initiated by Police Brigadier General Crizaldo Nieves, PRO2 Regional Director to enhance the skills of the participants in the basics of broadcasting, photography and videography was facilitated by the Regional Public Information Office, with resource speakers from the Cagayan Public Information Office headed by Mr. Rogie Sending, Cagayan Public Information Officer.

   The participants of the seminar are composed of three personnel each from the Police Provincial Offices of Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino and Santiago City Police Office who will later be organized into a "news team" to cover significant accomplishments and important events of their respective units through the social media platform.

   RD Nieves in his message during the opening of the seminar emphasized that the delivery of relevant, timely and accurate information to the public is very vital for the growth of the PNP organization and hence the need to organize a credible and capable news team in every police unit. "Constant communication between the police and the public is very important. Through the regular reporting of our accomplishments and activities to the community, we are able to win their hearts and mind and gain their support not just to the PNP but to the government as a whole," the RD added. Police Brigadier Nieves also thanked the Provincial Government of Cagayan for its continued support to the programs of the Valley Cops.

   The participants, despite having no professional training and experience in broadcasting showcased their talent and bested one another in the presentation of their workshop output. Nueva Vizcaya Police Office was awarded Best in News Writing, Cagayan Police Provincial Office received the Best in Reporting Award while   Isabela Police Provincial Office won the Best in Photography Award. All participants were also given their well-earned Certificates of Participation.

   The resource speakers during the 2-day activity were Mr. Sending, Mr. Barry De Jesus, Mr. Reden Delos Santos, all from Cagayan Provincial Information Office and Police Staff Sergeant Aldrine Baggayan, PRO2's official photographer.
