Two individuals held for violation of PD 705
CAMP MARCELO A ADDURU, TUGUEGARAO CITY – Two individuals were arrested for violation of Presidential Decree 705 or Anti-illegal Logging Act in separate police operations conducted by the PNP in Cagayan and Isabela provinces.
Arrested suspects were identified as Fernando Numbiyan, 55 years old, married, farmer, and resident of Brgy. Asaklat, Nagtipunan, Quirino and Edward Barcarse, 56 years, married, fisherman and a resident of Brgy Bisagu, Aparri, Cagayan.
Police report reveals that at about 2:15 AM today, April 26, 2021, Nagtipunan Police Station, Intel Operatives of 2nd QPMFC and MENRO personnel led by PLT JAMES C PASCUAL, DCOP under the supervision of PMAJ ERNESTO B DUQUE JR, OIC intercepted and arrested Numbiyan on board a jitney bearing plate number BCH 275 loaded sawn undocumented lumbers with more or less one thousand board feet with an estimated value of 45,443.77 pesos along San Dionisio II, Nagtipunan, Quirino heading to San Dionisio in the said municipality.
Meanwhile, on April 25, 2021 at about 5:30 AM, joint personnel of Aparri PS and 2nd PMFC, Cagayan PPO conducted anti-illegal logging operation at Brgy Bisagu in the said municipality that resulted in the arrest of Barcarse who was caught in the act while operating a furniture shop making a 4-seater oval type table without a permit. Confiscated from the suspect’s direct possession and control were hard wood sawn lumbers with aggregate volume of 400 bd. ft., one unit JCK Kawasaki unregistered chainsaw and one assembled saw mill.
Cases for violation of PD 705 are now being prepared against the said suspects.
