ANAKPAWIS members and former rebels withdraw support to their organizations
CAMP MARCELO A ADDURU, TUGUEGARAO CITY - In a symbolic gathering attended by heads of various government agencies and the Local Government Unit of Pamplona, Cagayan, 100 ANAKPAWIS members and 50 former rebels disaffiliated themselves from the organization and pledged their full support to the government in San Juan, Pamplona, Cagayan yesterday, April 24, 2021.
Before openly declaring the ANAKPAWIS a persona non grata organization in the Municipality, three former organizers and former rebels spoke about their experiences in the movement as members and recruiters of the NPA.
Also during the program, lecturers from the different member agencies of the Regional Task Force to End Local Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) presented and explained their programs and projects for all rebels who wish to return to the folds of the law and enjoy a peaceful life.
Emelita Vizcaro, Former Organizer of ANAKPAWIS Pamplona who was recruited sometime in 2014 and alias "Many," a former youth member in a front organization shared their testimonials and experiences and denounced the violence and atrocities committed by the Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs) and its front organizations in the Province of Cagayan and the whole region in support to the government's campaign to end local communist armed conflict.
PRO2 Regional Director Police Brigadier Crizaldo Obispo Nieves represented by Police Colonel Romaldo G Bayting, Deputy Regional Director for Operations expressed his appreciation to all the members of ANAKPAWIS who withdrew support to the Communist Terrorist Group. He added that Police Regional Office 2 under his leadership will continue to support all the programs of the government in its campaign to end Local Communist Armed Conflict in Region 2 and will continue to bring the services of the government closer to the community under the PRO2 “Lingkod Bayanihan” Program.
The highlight of the activity were the pledge of disaffiliation by the ANAKPAWIS members and former rebels from their respective progressive organization, burning of the flags of the Communist Terrorist Groups and the signing the Pledge of Allegiance to the government.
Further, PCol Bayting distributed food packs and sacks of rice to the former rebels as part of the "PRO2 Lingkod Bayanihan" Program.
